Six pro-Jonathan groups working for the re-election of
President Goodluck Jonathan in this month’s presidential election have cried
out to him over what they described as desperate plot to scheme them out.
The groups; Messiah Group(MG), Goodluck/Sambo Transformation
Partners(GSTP), Nigeria Youth Project(NYP), Goodluck Jonathan Global Support
Group, Youths For Ebele Jonathan(YEJ) and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
Transformation Crusaders made the allegation yesterday after a joint meeting in
Awka.
They expressed surprise how some individuals who also run
their own support groups could connive to sideline others, just because of pecuniary
gains that will accrue to them.
Though the groups desisted from mentioning those who were
involved in the plot to hijack resources meant for the various support groups,
they however fingered more established groups as working to ensure that other
groups are collapsed, just as they have refused to remit funds released to the
various groups for daily running.
A communiqué signed by the coordinators of the groups, with
Ozo Gab Okonkwo acting as the leader of the coalition stated that the groups
cannot afford to continue to work for the re-election of the Jonathan, when
indeed money has been mapped out for the job.
“Most of us participated actively in the election of
President Jonathan in 2011, we have built a strong presence in Anambra with
verifiable structures spanning all the local governments and wards. We have
been spending our resources on rallies, workshops and seminars for this course.
“But we cannot afford to be working with all our resources
and efforts and yet be totally schemed out. We do hereby notify the Nigerians,
PDP and Anambra citizens that we are pulling out from the Goodluck Support
Groups(GSG), Anambra Chapter, and agreed to be on our own and still work for
Jonathan.”
The groups reiterated their resolve to work for the
president’s re-election, while calling on the President’s Campaign Organisation
to accord them recognition as a working tool for the President’s victory in
this month’s election.
They lamented that after travelling to Abuja for recognition
as coordinators of Jonathan’s support groups, another group known as GSG,
Anambra State chapter moved in to hijack their structures for their own
benefits.
