Nwogbo, a septuagenarian while
speaking with WWW.ELEKENEWS.COM yesterday said the leaders of Ohaneze were more political
than the everyday politician, the reason they are representing themselves,
instead of Ndigbo.
“What we have today in Ohaneze are
people who are selfish like the politicians and that is why things are not
working in Igboland. Look at the federal roads in the South East, yet, we claim
we have such group and representatives.”
According to him, “Ohaneze Ndigbo members are working for their pockets; they are not working for the people they claim to represent.
“The few roads that are standard
today in the South East are those built by Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) when
Buhari was its chairman many years ago, but all the roads, built by our so
called governors in the last three years have all collapsed, it is a shame.”
He warned those criticizing the anti corruption war by President Muhammadu Buhari to stop it as it is the only thing that can bring back the country to its lost glory.
Nwogbo also called for the
commericalisation of all the federal roads in the country by giving them to the
multinational companies for effective management as that is the only way the
roads would be better managed.
“I suggest that all the roads in the
country be commercialized, while 10 year maintenance agreements be built in
every contract given to any contractor for solid roads to be built.”
He said that everybody had seen that
Buhari wanted to fight corruption, but regretted that such epidemic may return
after his tenure, unless anybody who would replace him would have such strong
will like him.
Nwogbo said that the president was
sincere in his fight against corruption in the land, adding that Nigerians were
difficult set of people to lead because they lack patience.”
He condemned the destruction of the
toll gates in the country by former president Olusegun Obasanjo, saying that
singular action is responsible for the bad state of roads in Nigeria today
